I Saw This.

While driving out and about today I saw this particular train locomotive. Grandpa Rod and Dad patiently drove me down to where it was parked so I could take a picture; but my cell phone's photo quality made for an awkward picture. Plus their is no way to move said picture onto the computer so I followed Dad's advice and just found a picture of the internet instead. (However those classic cars I photographed today are trapped on the phone...)

Well since I have not been on here for a while I might as well just tell you what I did today. I ran the 5K today down the parade route. I also briefly joined my Mom's work parade float after I finished the run. I never realized how slow parades are! Dad and I travled with Grandpa up to the Copper Pit Overlook. After washing Grandpa's car was when I saw said train.

More Trains

Yes I am a train geek. Alhough todays train was a regular freight train I didn't have to wait for it as long as the passenger train. I also drove down to the location all by myself!

Patience is a Virture

Today I decided to make a bicycle trip to through out town. On my way I took pictures of the railroad museum and the Daughters and Sons of Utah Pioneers Museums. Afterwards I rode down to Warner and found I nice spot to wait for a train. After
40ish minutes I was talking to my mom who was going to come pick me up when I was done. That was when I saw the distinctive bright lights of a train at the cut near T.A.D.

I noticed that it was extremely short and all yellow. At first I thought my wait was going to amount in a picture of only one locomotive. It was though to long to be one locomotive though...

Once it got close I could tell there where two locomotives, they where clean and fast. Behind it was not the typical intermodial train but...

...A passenger train!

Lego Insanity

Okay we all know I am a big fan of the plastic bricks known as Lego. Today I am discussing my recent creations.



First up are the two sets I got for Christmas, above is the pirate ship I got.

Next is a behind view of the HUGE Off Roader. It has working motors and lights installed inside it!

Next are a series of my own silly creations. Above Wall-E picks up some trash.

An attempted custom Mustang model above. It may not look right but it was fun to build.

Spiderman fights Dr. Octopus on the wall of the Cafe Corner set.

Turaga Vakama watches over the Vahi mask.

Indiana Jones and Han Solo stare blankly at each other, confused.

Next up is my custom train shed that I made yesterday and completed today.

Above is the interior of the shed.

The main office is obscured by the flash. You can sort of see the fancy computer he has.

A K-Nex bridge connects the shed and the nearby book shelf.

Crossing the bridge is none other than the Edward Thomas! This narrow gauge engine was the inspiration for the fictional Peter Sam from the Thomas the Tank Engine Franchise. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talyllyn_Railway

Last is a diesel that serves as back up for the Edward Thomas. Besides it are two rail crossing signs.

Trains and Tee shirts.

After several failed attempts at trying to get a picture of Engine # 11 at the local museum I have finally succeeded. Note that they have recently restored the headlight, replacing the white dome that has stood in for the headlight since 11's entrance into the museum.

Also that Star Trek tee shirt I ordered in spring has finally arrived. After putting it up for next Halloween I tried on the Star Wars Jedi robe I wore the year Episode II came out. The waist came up to my mid abdomen. Yeah that robe is way to small.

One again on the subject of trains is the LEGO model of an EMD DDA40X Diesel engine that I just assembled. First a picture of the real deal. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UnionPacific6922.jpg)

Yes it is HUGE the biggest diesel engine ever. Now for the model I designed from scratch, also huge in the LEGO world.

This model is about 1 1/2 feet long and includes a full cab. The model has been modified since this photo to have a more accurate wheel and horn arrangement.

Lego Summer

Summer! A word that not only means being off school but messing with my collection of Lego bricks. Today I will showcase my recent custom builds.





First of is the engine #12 snowplow. This snowplow is the remnant of a scrapped train that used to travel a former local rail line. The real snowplow is on display at a local museum along with engine #12's sister train, #11.

Before it was scraped into a snowplow, #12 was a proud Brooks engine that traveled up local rails carrying materials from the main line to a local mine and smelter. When the age of diesel came, #12 was scrapped into its current snowplow state.



The next vehicle is fictional but known the world over as...

... NX-01 ENTERPRISE

The hero ship of the T.V. show Star Trek: Enterprise, this ship was the first warp 5 vessel in the Trek universe and the precursor to the famed NCC-1701 ENTERPRISE.



Up next are a few more Trek ships that I came up with myself.

The M.A.C.O assault gunboat is a small heavily armed ship intended for defense of larger targets.

The U.S.S. GENEVA is a small medical ship that can provide ambulance service between disabled ships and large medical facilities.
